Alfonso’s Biography
God blessed me with a wonderful life; and, it all started with my parents.
My father, Alfonso, Sr. was a guerrilla who fought against the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. He joined the U.S. Army and served honorably for four years. He transferred from the Army to the U.S. Navy and served for 25 more years. He saw combat in the latter part of WWII and the entire Korean War.
While stationed in Taipei, Taiwan, he met my mother, Julie, who was born and raised on the island.
She is a 35-year veteran of PG&E. She continues to work there on various commercial accounts.
My father, after retiring from the Armed Services, became a great entrepreneur. Together, he and my mother were an awesome and successful team. As a result, they provided my sister, Irene, and me with a great life.
One of the many things my parents taught me was to have a positive mental attitude in all that I do. Truly, the word "can't" was absent in my parents' vocabulary, and they made sure my sister and I realized anything in life was possible if we wanted it badly enough. One of his life experiences which he shared with us was when he was fighting in the Philippines, he hid his parents and 10 family members in the jungle for safety from the Japanese. All through those desperate times, with death staring him in the face, he always fought with the intent to survive and win; and, as a result of this positive attitude and drive, he and his family made it through the invasion and, my father, through many wars. He died a few years ago. I miss and love my dad so much.
As I entered adulthood, my parents' teachings of being positive helped me through my corporate jobs and my entrepreneurial and acting careers. My credits, thus far, are the results of my parents' hands-on strict, but loving guidance and upbringing.
